PlaceZap is designed to collect as little data as possible. No accounts, no email addresses, no personal profiles.

What We Collect

  • Player names: First name only, entered voluntarily to join an event. Not stored after the event expires.
  • Guess data: Your map guesses and scores during gameplay, stored only for the duration of the event (7 days).
  • Server logs: Standard IP address logs for security and abuse prevention.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Email addresses
  • Passwords or account credentials
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe when applicable)
  • Location data from your device
  • Third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels

Data Retention

All event data including player names and scores is automatically deleted after 7 days. No long-term storage of personal information.

Cookies

PlaceZap uses session cookies only to maintain your connection during gameplay. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Children's Privacy

PlaceZap is suitable for classroom use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we collect only a first name and no other identifying information, the platform is safe for educational environments.

Acceptable Use

  • Use PlaceZap only for lawful purposes
  • Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits or security measures
  • Do not use the platform to harass or harm other participants
  • Event hosts are responsible for the content of locations they select

Service Availability

PlaceZap is provided without guarantees of uptime or uninterrupted service. Events automatically expire after 7 days. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features at any time.

Limitation of Liability

PlaceZap and Yellow Moon Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.
